Journalists danger from Stories

For the past few weeks my class and i have been learning about different journalist's and event's that has occurred in the world to journalist incidents.

One web site that has helped me and my class mates out a lot on learning about journalists is (cpj.org) this website helps you understand about events that occurred in the world to journalists how they were killed what type of deaths they had either it was murder by accident what type of job they were on and also their position on the story they were covering. The greatest thing about this website is that it gives you a large option of places that journalists were affected the least to the most and the names and stories of the people that were affected.

One journalist that i had learned about was Lasantha Wickermatuge He was a journalist in Sri Lanka he was covering a very dangerous story but he wanted to get the job done. He knew that the job was going to be dangerous but he decided to do the story any way. Once he started to do the Story he started to get threats about if he continued the story there would be killed. So Wickermatuge decided to write his own obituary to tell the people of the world what he went through during his life and how his life went because of the work and story he was covering some people felt like he did the right thing by writing his own obituary. But some people didn't like what he did and thought that it was unnecessary.

Another story that my class and i have covered and learned about recently was about a journalist named Daniel Pearl. He was a journalists that lived in Karachi and was interviewing people out there to learn more about the events going on out there. Daniel Pearl was abducted when he was going to interview Omar Ishiek. They had killed him because he had been set up also another thing is that Daniel Pearl was a jew so that made them want him even more. The terrorist sent emails to his email to contact his wife and also the Police officers that were trying  to find him. They came to the conclusion that he was dead when the terrorist sent the police officers a video of Daniel Pearl being beheaded.

Journalism Class This Semester

This semester in journalism i have learned many things that i didn't know before. This semester we learned about how A man named Steven Glass Wrote a fake story to try to make a big story. The reason that Mrs. Turner showed us the movie was to ensure us that it is never go to list fake users that you have gotten your information from or even make a story that is false. 

Also this semester we learned about a program called skype. Mrs. Turner let us use this program to show us how some reporters get in touch with people internationally, if they need to find out something that happened they can use that program to video call some one and get the information they need while looking at the person and talking to them. We had learned about different types of leads that reports need to know to understand more on how they are going to write the story. Mrs.Turner had given us a text book that had all the different types of leads that can be used when writing a story.
